MADE IN MELBOURNE

The chocolate box opened this week at 117 Macleay Street Potts Point, in the Art Deco Cahors building.

Established in 1958 in Camberwell, Melbourne, this is their first Sydney suburban store.

The Chocolate Box specialises in premium Australian chocolates and confectionery, featuring quality keepsake chocolate gift boxes, chocolate hampers, gift box crates and chocolate assortments delivered across Australia. They have been providing high levels of quality and service for the last 60 years. Services include custom personalised gifts for corporate customers, a select wholesale range, and retail stores in Melbourne, Sydney and on-line, offering a wide selection of fine quality chocolate gifts, gourmet chocolates and sweet lolly creations.

They provide a comprehensive gift-wrapping service.

Their Potts Point store opened this week with locals telling staff how much they relish their Anzac biscuits and other items.

These are hand-made in their Port Melbourne workshop using the authentic recipe including Golden Syrup. They are named after the Anzacs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corp) soldiers who fought overseas in World War I. They wanted a nourishing biscuit from home. To get the biscuit to the soldiers without water damage the recipe called for an oat-based biscuit (not cookie). The term Anzac is protected and enshrined in Federal Government law overseen by the Department of Veteran Affairs which strictly monitors production and can issue fines of up to $5,000 for breaches.

The Chocolate Box delights in producing the authentic recipe.

Anzac Day is this Sunday 25th April 2021.

They also sponsor Breast Cancer Network of Australia and donate up to 10% of sales of specially marked Mothers’ Day gifts to support Australians affected by breast cancer. Mothers’ Day is Sunday 9th May.
