WINGS OVER AUSTRALIA

A new food store, Wing Stop, has opened in Kings Cross at 111 Darlinghurst Road, opposite the intersection with Bayswater Road.
The store seats about 45 on bar stools. Its design faces outwards with a large curved window and windows on two other sides providing a 180 degree panorama of the activities outside to entice customers to linger longer.
At first glance the menu may seem limited. It serves only one thing, chicken wings with side dishes including chips.
But it offers a surprising array of choices.
There are twelve types of wings on offer including Louisiana Rub with “Cajun Kikkk. A savoury blend of garlic, herbs and spices” and “Mango Habanero [chilli] with sweet mango and hot habanero with a lingering edge.”
The menu is classified into hot, mild and neutral items to satisfy customers’ palettes.
All dishes are cooked freshly on the premises and can be taken away, ordered on-line or eaten in store.
It’s an American-based store and according to its advertising has its focus on “Bold new flavors”, spelled without the u, in the American style.
This is the first store of its type from this brand in Australia and opened here only recently on 17th May 2025. The brand was founded in 1994 in Texas, USA, and now has over 2,500 other locations world-wide.
Because of its initial popularity and interest customers have queued on the street and around the corner into Victoria Street, Potts Point, with security guards on door duty for safety.
It’s more than a food outlet. It’s now a phenomenon.
