Ooh La La: Le Frérot, cafe, bar, bistrot

27 Nov 2025

Potts Point continues its expanding French influence. Within the last few weeks, a new authentic French cafe, Le Frérot, has arrived. It’s a scion of Franca restaurant, already well established in the area with a reputation for fine French food. Unsurprisingly, “Le Frérot” literally translates to “a little brother”.

Andrew Becher, Managing Director of the group, says, “We’re absolutely delighted to be opening Le Frérot in the heart of Potts Point. This new cafe, bar and bistro will bring a fresh French concept to the neighbourhood.”

The menu is extensive and the ambience is decidedly chic. The are six types of teas, seven varieties of teas, eight types of sandwiches, 16 choices of wines and cocktails, and cold press juices including Pink-A-Colada, made with watermelon, raspberry, strawberry, red grapes and pink lady apples.

The decor creates a warm cosy ambience seating about 30 so customers can linger longer including the outside loggia overlooking bustling Macleay Street.

With extended trading hours it’s a cafe by day and bistro by night.

An eclectic collection of modern art and prints imported from London and New York adorns the walls while plates and glasses feature their own in-house logo.

Caramel-coloured velvet banquettes, warm, honey-coloured, curved woodwork and uber-stylish chairs all create an atmosphere.

of sophisticated quiet elegance. It shows how it is more important to have style rather than merely be in style.
