Grumpy Baker Makes Locals Smile

The Grumpy Baker and Bar in Macleay Street Potts Point is a new addition to the streetscape.
The staff are certainly not grumpy, and neither is the extensive cafe food or ambience.
With fourteen types of tea and coffee including sticky chai tea, seven types of smoothies with or without protein powder, alcoholic cocktails including an exotic lychee and elderflower spritz, it’s no wonder the venue is almost always happy and bristling with activity. “We love variety” says Michael Cthurmer, the owner, who also has ten other outlets.
Its Euro-style al fresco tables and chairs and rusticated stucco columns exude a Mediterranean air.
The Grumpy Baker caters to local tastes with a menu jam-packed with goodness such as the green goodness bagel (with chicken, pesto, avocado, lettuce and fetta), a lamb rump salad and a selection of sandwiches and toasties. Other enticements include ricotta pancakes, homecooked pies including their popular seafood pie and a mega shared breakfast platter including their famous Israeli salad.
There are eleven Grumpy Baker outlets across Sydney and beyond, a sure indication of its wide appeal.
