Jill Ordish is just like her shop, Macleay on Manning, a kaleidoscope of colour and joi de vivre.
She’s celebrating the 21st birthday of her shop this year although she’s lived in Elizabeth Bay for 35 years, an area she loves and enjoys daily.
She has her finger on the pulse and design of the area which locals appreciate, adopt and adapt.
Her evolving window displays are an art form in themselves and conversation starters. Passers-by stop and stare.
When it comes to layering she believes more is more: homes can absorb a palimpsest of ideas with layers of colour and texture.
Where else can you purchase licorice toothpaste used by the Vatican, candles by London Apothocary or items by Tom Ford, Ortigia, Ittala, Alessi and Fornasetti?
It’s an Aladdin’s cave of delightful design inspiration and aspirations.
