POHO FLOWERS

30 May 2019

Poho Flowers, 117 Macleay Street, Potts Point, takes its name from two other names. It’s a combination of Potts Point and Soho, New York, which is known for its bohemian swagger.

With a daily flower display on the footpath it certainly adds to the colour and vibrancy of the streetscape.

Poho has been a neighbourhood florist for over a decade and has been owned by the current proprietor and Director, Ed West, for four years.

He says: “My childhood was filled with trips to the country, picnics in the Botanic Gardens with Gran and school holidays picking plums and veggies on Nan & Pop’s farm.

“My love of nature and all things wild and wonderful started long ago and floristry has enabled me to continue that and call it work. The abundance and seasonality is what makes it all so special.

“That, and this amazing group of incredibly talented people I get to work with every day, not to mention the growers!

“Nature creates the best colours, shapes and textures, we then get to interpret a brief and bring this all together.”

PoHo celebrates nature with its stylish arrangements for partners, home, offices, weddings and birthdays. Their reputation is built on quality, vibrancy and freshness.

Each piece is a living sculpture and brings any room to life.

Ed says, “the best thing about Potts Point and its residents is their diversity and sense of community.”

He notes that the most popular bouquet is “anything with pastel tones.”

His tips for keeping flowers looking their best is to “always cut the stems of your blooms when you get them home and immediately place them in plenty of fresh water and change the water every few days.”
