St John’s Night Markets

The night market at St John’s Anglican Church, Darlinghurst, is a new addition to night-time activities in the area. It operates on the third Saturday of every month within the grounds of the beautiful sandstone heritage church, facing both Darlinghurst Road and Victoria Street.
The stalls are arranged to take advantage of views of the church which was opened in 1858/ The church was designed by Goold and Hilling with the spire added later in 1875, designed by Edmund Blacket, all in the Gothic Revival style.
The church hall is buzzing with vintage clothing and outside food stalls include a burger kiosk, Japanese souffle pancakes, falafels, amba salads, Spanish paella and nachos. Madi offers Paws Point accessories for canine companions and BK oil provides essential aromas to enhance your personal scents.
It’s all an eclectic potpourri of interest operating at sunset and after dark within easy walking distance of Darlinghurst, Kings Cross and Elizabeth Bay.
The church is open and visitors can admire the mosaics near the choir, the magnificent western stained glass window, the gilt organ pipes and richly carved pews. It’s like walking through the door of history.
