THE ALEXANDER, RUSHCUTTERS BAY

17 Jul 2025

The Alexander apartments, Rushcutters Bay, sit surreptitiously at 67 Bayswater Road. They were probably built in the 1920s as part of the stylish Art Deco apartment boom in the area.

They are five stories with 23 apartments and sit in a tree-lined cul de sac leading down to picturesque Rushcutters Bay Park.

The olive green facade and recessed entrance foyer incorporate Carrara marble and terrazzo steps, a chevron parquet floor, Palladian-proportioned windows, frosted glass doors with French fleurs-de-lis motives and deep balconies.

It has recently been refurbished.

The interiors retain original high ceilings, some with original cornices and some with black japanned wooden floors.

The Alexander adds to its streetscape with its understated elegance and makes a positive contribution to the area.
