The Algorithm Cafe

The Algorithm Cafe is a new cafe, only two weeks old, located at 36A Darlinghurst Road, Kings Cross, near the corner of Roslyn Street.
It is owned by Beryl, whose unusual name for a male, is based on ancient Biblical and references where beryl is referred to as a precious jewel worn by High Priests as a symbol of beauty and divine vision.
The cafe seats 42 inside and outside on the footpath under the awning. It is the younger buddy of Beryl’s other successful Algorithm cafe in Marrickville, opened only two years ago.
The Potts Point cafe is designed in the modern minimalist style in grey and black with textured walls. The stainless steel bench is bespoke as is the refectory table. The interior design, described as “chic” by a local resident, was designed by H&D Studio Design. H&D Studio Design is local firm whose principal is Herbert Dharmawan. They specialise in heritage, new apartments, retail shops and many other projects. They base their design philosophy on environmental ecological sustainability and say “Architecture is the art you live in. It should be a timeless, minimal and functional designs that tells a story.”
Beryl has added his own touches including a working retro-vintage turntable and speakers. He prefers the grainy sound of vinyl.
He is also considering artwork to add some interest to the decor.
There are fifteen staff and nine staff on duty at any one time which ensures a highly attentive team who are devoted to pleasing customers.
The menu is designed in the “modern Australian with a Japanese twist” style. They serve specialty coffees using their own Rhythm Blend in collaboration with Headlands Coffee and numerous other signature drinks such as “Rhythm”, a cold brew topped with Algorithm signature cream, house raspberry earl grey tea, salted caramel matcha crunch and many more.
The most popular dishes are Algo folded egg which consists of silky truffled eggs, grana padano and chives, LP’s Sausage and egg, and chicken nourish bowl, a healthy mix of chipotle grilled chicken, mixed leaves, quinoa, marinated fetta and spiced cashews.
Coconut rice porridge is also popular at any time, especially during this colder weather.
This trendy cafe expands the local cafe scene from Potts Point to Kings Cross as adds to the streetscape.
